You found the Sierra-style cutscene! This is an homage to classic adventure games from the '80s and '90s — think King's Quest, Space Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry.

Why is this here? Because Ryan (the developer) grew up on these games and couldn't resist hiding a little nostalgia in the codebase. The "outlet shock" is a callback to Sierra's infamous "death by mundane object" trope.
